Salish Twilight Girl is a hauntingly beautiful formal decorative variety bred by Noni Morrison from Washington state (PNW).

Characteristics:

Form: Formal Decorative (FD). Features flat, broad, and smoothly arranged petals.

Color: Lavender/Lilac with a Dark Reverse. This is the dahlia's defining feature. The face of the petals is a pale, silvery, hazy lilac or dusty mauve, while the reverse side is a striking dark wine-purple, boysenberry, or deep plum. The contrast provides a "gunmetal cast" and a beautiful depth.

Bloom Size: Small (BB), typically between to inches (approx. to cm).

Height: Tall, ranging from feet to as high as or feet. Its height often requires staking.

Performance:

  • Color Transition: The color changes slightly with the season, deepening from a lighter pink/magenta in summer to a more silvery/deep magenta in the fall.
  • Unique Display: The petals often curl or fold inward, particularly as the evening approaches, which deliberately exposes the darker, rosy magenta backs, creating a dramatic, twilight-like effect.
  • Productivity: It is known to be a prolific bloomer and a huge tuber producer, making it an excellent investment for growers.
  • Stems: It produces blooms on long, strong stems that are perfect for cutting and arranging.
  • Noted for having stunning feathery foliage that adds dimension to the plant.

Please note that the listing is for one tuber.
