Origin: This cultivar was bred in France and is often associated with the cut flower trade.

Characteristics:

Form: Cactus (C). This form is characterized by fully double, spiky blooms where the ray florets (petals) are long, narrow, and rolled (revolute) backward for more than half their length, giving the flower a dramatically pointed or quill-like appearance.

Color: Deep Crimson/Maroon, almost Black. It is famously known as one of the darkest dahlias available. The petals are a rich, velvety burgundy-maroon, with the innermost or central florets often appearing so deep in color that they look black. This intensity adds a striking, sophisticated, and moody contrast to any garden or arrangement.

Bloom Size: Medium (B) or Small (BB).

• Diameter: The blooms typically measure between 5 to 6 inches ($12\text{ cm}\text{ to }15\text{ cm})$ across.
• According to the American Dahlia Society (ADS) classification, this range places it in the BB (Small) or the lower end of the B (Medium) category.
