Mikayla Miranda was hybridized by N. Gitts (USA) and introduced in 2012.
Characteristics:
Form: Informal Decorative (ID)—Blooms are fully double, with petals that are flat, broad, and often slightly curled, twisted, or wavy, resulting in a full, loose, and flowy appearance.
Color: Light Blend (LB) / White with Purple (W/PU)—A unique bicolour or tipped effect:
- Primary Color: Pristine White or Soft White.
- Secondary/Tips: The petals are delicately edged or tipped with lavender, lilac, or lavender-pink. The unopened buds are often a darker purple.
Bloom Size: Medium (B)—Blooms are typically sized between 6 and 8 inches (15–20 cm) in diameter. Some sources even classify it as a large-blooming dahlia (up to 10 inches), though the formal ADS classification is Medium.
Height: Medium to Tall, growing to approximately 3 to 5 feet (90–150 cm).
Performance: Exceptionally floriferous. Blooms from summer to first frost, with strong stems and a bushy habit. Ideal for cutting, with a vase life of about 5 days when harvested at three-quarters open.
