ollyhill Pink Martini Dahlia is a vibrant and high-performing dahlia from the same prolific hybridizers, Ted and Margaret Kennedy (Hollyhill Dahlias) in the USA, introduced in 2015.
Characteristics:
Form: Waterlily (WL). Similar to 'Hollyhill Serenity', the petals are broad and generally flat, creating a semi-double, poised bloom. However, 'Pink Martini' often has a higher petal count and a more ruffled or pointed look than some other Waterlilies.
Color: Light Blend (LB) / Bicolor Hot Pink and White. The colour is cheerful and vibrant:
- The outer petals are a stunning, darker, hot magenta or rich pink.
- The colour transitions to a lighter pink or creamy white towards the interior of the bloom, creating a beautiful bicolor or ombre effect.
- Overall, it is a brilliant and cheerful bloom that truly "pops" in the garden, living up to its lively name.
Bloom Size: Small to Medium (BB/M), generally ranging from 4 to 6 inches (10 to 15 cm) in diameter.
Height: A tall, vigorous variety, often reaching 4 to 5.5 feet (120–170 cm) tall.
Performance:
- Cut Flower Quality: An excellent and highly productive cut flower. Florists value its vibrant colour, Waterlily form, and the fact that it holds up well. It is known for its super-sturdy stems and vigorous, reblooming habit, making it an impressive workhorse in the cutting garden.
- Garden Use: Its height and prolific blooming habit make it a magnificent, showy plant for the middle or back of a border. It is a very big, bold, and vigorous grower that is frequently recommended by market growers for its reliability and tuber production.
