Hollyhill Loverboy

Hollyhill Loverboy is an award-winning red dahlia, another superb introduction from Ted and Margaret Kennedy (Hollyhill Dahlias) in the USA, introduced in 2014.

Characteristics:

Form: Miniature Formal Decorative (M-FD) or Semi-Cactus (SC). There is some variation in its classification, but it's often described as a Semi-Cactus (SC) or Formal Decorative (FD) form. The semi-cactus form features petals that are pointed or rolled for less than half their length, giving the bloom a striking, star-like appearance.

Color: Red (R) / Crimson. This dahlia is famous for its pure, non-fading red color. It's a deep crimson red, sometimes noted to have subtle blue undertones in the petals, which adds richness and depth without turning purple or brown.

Bloom Size: Miniature (M) to Small (BB), typically around 2 to 2.5 inches (5–6.5 cm) when classified as a Miniature Formal Decorative.

Height: A tall, vigorous plant, growing to 4 to 5 feet (120–150 cm) tall.

• Awards: 'Hollyhill Loverboy' is a proven winner, having received the prestigious Derrill W. Hart Medal in 2014 from the American Dahlia Society (ADS), an award given to seedlings with the highest scores in official trial gardens.
• Cut Flower Quality: Highly recommended as a cut flower. It is described as a vigorous plant that produces long, strong stems and plenty of flowers consistently throughout the season. Its non-fading colour and sturdy stems make it ideal for arrangements.
• Vigor: This dahlia is known to be a vigorous plant with a healthy growth habit, dark green leaves, and it is a good tuber producer.
